#53. movies
saturday i watched Casablanca
not sure if it's because i was fighting to stay awake during it, but i don't get the hype.
Photobucket
i did kind of fall in love with humphrey bogart's character, but that's no real surprise...mysterious guy who makes himself relatively unavailable.

sunday i watched singin in the rain.
Photobucket
perfect as it was a very rainy day and i did enjoy singing along.
this was another that i felt a lil misled on, it doesn't really feature people singing in the rain, or that song, it's about something else entirely. whatever, they did stuff like that back then i guess.

#67. Volunteer
Saturday's trip to the Campbell Community Garden was awesome.
I had a great time, met some really nice volunteers and have myself on a mailing list for the co-op now to come on a more regular basis.
The two hours flew by!

Sunday's time at the race was mixed.
It was early (6am check in time!) and I liked being productive and helping people register, however, it felt pretty clique-ish, even though it was mostly older people who hang out from church.
I think this might be a good way to still be a part of races, but without all the dedication it takes to train (not a 5k, I'm talking more along the lines of a marathon here).

#39. Become a regular
I went to the Bob Inn last night for a few drinks.
Judy met up with me there, which was really nice.
I met another bar tender, I'm getting there.
Thank you Chicago Sports teams for making it to the finals, more excuses to hang out at a bar solo.

Failure of the week: #5. Brunch
I didn't go to brunch this past weekend!
I don't know how i let that one, my favorite one, slide.
Maybe the fact that I did brunch two days the week before can make up for it?
I'll do better this week.

#16:
i also sent a card to my cousin bridget for her birthday.
i don't usually send birthday cards, but thought i'd start.
and of course, i felt like how do i start now, and leave out whoever i missed so far, but i have to start at some point and i know hers is coming up, so it has begun! i will be the new auntie ro.
(growing up my sister and i always got birthday cards in the mail, usually the first, from my mom's former co-worker ro. she always signed auntie ro. we rarely see her, but it always makes me feel special that she thought of me around my special day)

Also...#67:
I signed up with Chicago Cares which has a shit load of different volunteer opportunities through the city with various organizations.
Tomorrow, I'll be working at a garden in Humbolt Park for 2 hours
Sunday, not through Chicago Cares, I'll be working the registration tent at a local 5k run.

GO ME!

so much done in so little time

alright, i was kind of on a roll this weekend.

on Sunday, i had brunch (2/143) with my parents, sister , aunt and uncle. my cousin Pat was supposed to meet up but said she probably wouldn't? and then ended up at the wrong place. i really don't want to end up like her. i wish i could check that off my list of things to do.

while i was at the parents place, i got a copy of the grandma eulogy that dad wrote.

and got a lesson in how to play the accordion from dad.
Photobucket

which i can't totally remove from the list yet since i haven't completely learned, but am in the process of learning. it's fun and tricky. a good work out for your arms.

also on Sunday, I watched movie number one (in no particular order) of AFI's 100 movies in 100 years.
Photobucket

it was a perfect day to lay in bed watching a movie. and i must say this was pretty good. i don't think i had ever watched a marilyn monroe movie, this was interesting the way it dealt with homosexual topics unintentionally. as far as i could tell.

i also took more pictures:

grrrrrr not brrrrr

alright, i've been a lil lax on this whole photo a day thing.
today during lunch i went out for a walk since i t was so nice out and i HAD to get out of this office.
i attempted to take a photo of this really cool sign that i later read about (it's a new music venue downtown) and couldn't find my freaking camera in the mitten in my large and in charge bag.
what happened to it being organized!??!
so, hopefully tonight will present me with plenty of photo taking opportunities.

i did purchase 2 shirts from chelsea today in keeping with my buy something a every week.
i also have weekend brunch plans set up for this weekend.
again with family, so kinda lame. but it's to celebrate my birthday a lil late and my mom's a lil early!
so check those bitches off the list!

OH...and I received a "Friend Gift" last night which will cross off my obtain/buy new music each month goal for April:
Javi bought me Taylor Swift 's self titled album!!!!
I've listened to it twice today alone, never gets old.

AND thanks to Javi...April's new restaurant is El Nandu!

a Photo a day

Friday:
I HAD to take a pic of Chelsea as we were leaving work (early thank you boss!).
she looks so much like a cartoon character, no?
Photobucket

But, then I also had to take a pic of Charlotte who I hung out with for a bit due to getting home early.
She gave up drinking for lent despite not being Christian, so I had to alert her that Lent is officially over on Good Friday! Who knew? So here is a series of her prior to first sip during first sip and rejoicing after first sip. This was not staged at all.

Saturday:
I went to a party, almost didn't take a photo all day, realized this, took a photo right before midnight to count for Saturday and right after to count for Sunday.
I'm already getting way to lazy with this, one of my favorite tasks.
(not too flattering)

Sunday:
cheap out there

Monday:
Judy invited me to a cafe near my place to chill out for a while.
It was really rainy and so this is a photo of the window being splashed with rain. It's also showing the reflection of the interior of the cafe, which I think is kinda cool.
I took it without the flash because I get embarrassed taking photos in public places. I know, i'm working on it.

I'm starting to realize I enjoy my photos of objects more than people.

Breakfast is served...

Take your breakfast to work day:

I lugged a grocery bag full of the following to work today:
box of generic brand honey nut cheerios
half gallon of milk
bag of a dozen cinnamon raisin bagels

The bag broke as soon as I stood up to get off the train.
Thankfully I always have a cloth bag in my purse which saved the day.
Until I arrived at work and decided I wanted both ice water and hot tea.
I spilled the whole cup of hot water on my left hand.
Most is ok, minus the thumb which is still throbbing.

So, I have officially completed week one of bringing breakfast to work one day a week.

The photos begin

This is a completion of 2/1001 of my daily photos.
This first one is to show me rocking the side bun.
I thought it looked good. The photos showed otherwise, as did my next day attempt to recreate. I must have been a lil drunk.
Photobucket

The second one is a picture from my chair at work of my beautiful lil plants.
I bought these plant a garden things at CVS.
One is Sunflowers, one is daisies. So far, no flowers.

i start TODAY!

Alright, i kept feel torn over when to start this freaking countdown.
Is it from the time I came up with the idea to do it?
Is it from the time I started the list?
Is it from the time I finalize the list?
But....if it's when I finalize it, I can' capture all the things I'm doing in the meantime, and this might kick me in the ass to just finalize the list.
I'm feeling reticent (right use?) about that part of it.
What if I come up with something even COOLER that i want to add to the list, but already have 101?
My answer...do it anyway dumbass!

So, we've begun.
I wanted to add a cool countdown gadget, but it seems like they're all broken?
This might be a sign, but whatever, I've committed to starting now.
I'll add the gadget later, when I figure it out.

List Items in Progress:

Buy a new piece of clothing every week (1/143):
This actually works out well. I HATE shopping, specifically for clothes.
One of Chelsea's goals is to give away 25 things, so we're smart girls and decided to combine our goals for a bit.
Every Thursday she's bringing me something from her closet and I'm giving her a quarter for it. SCORE!
I will be able to avoid the store for a little longer.

Make a brunch date every week (1/143):
It's EASTER this Sunday. I didn't make the plans, but was invited for Easter to my cousin's place. I say it counts.

the deal

I was just asking a friend on Sunday:
"How do i jump start my fucking life?"
To which she replied,
"Your whole life? I don't know."

But then on monday, which feels like it wasn't just yeterday (oy vey) i came across a blog where the blogger did this. they even linked to the site, which i wish i knew how to do, then i could be considered a real blogger, but i digress. i felt like seeing this was a sign. like you ask and you shall receive.
baby steps.
and i wasn't initially going to blog about it, but i mentioned it to a friend today, and she already started her list and made a blog for it to be housed in. i like her initiative and thought it was a good idea. then i'll have access to the list anywhere there's the interweb. yeah?

so here's the start. i'm not even counting how many i've come up with yet, but i'll add and then at the end of the 101 items, i'll organize.

i'm most excited about the crossing off part.
